The First Presbyterian Church Nursery School was founded in 1963 and has had a longstanding tradition of excellence in preschool education. We are committed to building strong relationships with each First Pres family. Our teachers care about the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of each child.

We provide a safe and nurturing environment that promotes exploration and creativity. We encourage positive learning and experimentation in the context of play. Hands-on exploration allows all children the freedom to learn and grow at their own pace.

One thing that sets our school apart is our commitment to small classes with a certified teacher and an assistant in each class. We are very proud of our low student to teacher ratio. It helps to guarantee that your child will get the attention and support needed to reach his/her highest potential.

Here's What's Happening in our Classrooms:

2s- Fall Fun is happening in our 2s classes. Children are learning all about APPLES....comparing shapes, sizes and colors, printing and painting apples, tasting different kinds of apples and discovering a star made of seeds inside!

3s- Children are having a TREEmendous time exploring what happens to trees in the fall. They are having fun with paint and making handprint trees, painting leaves and discovering all the beautiful colors of fall. It is such a pretty time of year!

4s- Children are getting to know new friends with their ALL ABOUT ME unit. They are filling Me Bags with their favorite things to tell about themselves. Soon they will create a class book all about their new classmates! They are making graphs of things like eye colors, they are drawing self portraits and learning to write their names.

5s- Our Pre-K 5s class has begun their Ocean Exploration Unit. The children are "diving" into learning about sea creatures such as octopuses, crabs, seahorses and sharks. Their curriculum uses a multi disciplinary approach to learning. Math, literature, science, art, writing and journaling activities are all connected to Ocean themes. They especially enjoy the science experiments and the hands on ocean fun!
